TestDaF
TestDaF is a language exam held by the TestDaF-Institute, with which foreign candidates seeking admission to a German university can prove that their knowledge of German is sufficient to enable them to carry out a course of studies at a German university.
TestDaF consists of four sections that test four different language skills:
- Understanding written texts
- Understanding spoken texts
- Use of written language
- Use of spoken language
The contents and the tasks set in the test are relevant to a university environment. For each of the four test sections, the participant’s test results are assigned to one of the following levels:
TestDaF level 5 (TDN 5)
TestDaF level 4 (TDN 4)
TestDaF level 3 (TDN 3)
A test result with at least a TestDaF-level 4 (TDN 4) in all four sections is recognized by all German universities as proof of a sufficient proficiency in German. Should the test results be under this level, then the university may review your admissions status or demand that the applicant learn more German before re-applying.
The test questions have been developed by the TestDaF-Institute. The test is held around the world, always on one pre-set date, and only at licensed TestDaF centers. The tests are then corrected at the TestDaF-Institute in Germany. As a rule, you receive the test results six weeks after you have taken the test. Carl Duisberg Centren in Germany and some of out centers abroad are licensed TestDaF-test centers.
From the initial planning to its successful completion – our team is looking forward to your inquiries.
