The Guesthouse, the City and Its Surroundings

The Carl Duisberg Guesthouse Saarbrücken is located in the quiet Eschberg district of Saarbrücken, surrounded by the city forest. There are bus stops right at the front door, placing the university and the city center no further than a 20-minute bus ride away.

Just three stops up the road, you will reach the "Saar-Basar", a large shopping center where you will find a variety of stores catering to your daily needs.

The historic downtown area, the "St. Johanner Markt", with its picturesque brewery/restaurants and cafés, offers French flair and, particularly in the summer, offers a popular meeting point for young and old alike. From the historic churches to the weekly open-air market, here you will find a broad spectrum of day-to-day life in Germany.

We offer participants at the Carl Duisberg Centren a program of leisure activities, updated each week, featuring cultural and sports outings. All of our guests are cordially invited to join in. With its surroundings and its lush green belts, the "Völklinger Hütte" World Cultural Heritage Site, the proximity to the border with France and Luxembourg, a lively calendar of festivals and a wide variety of museums, Saarbrücken has just the right thing for each and every visitor.

Feel free to take a bike tour along the Saar River that leads to France, an outing that even for the untrained is no obstacle at all. Seasonal highlights include the Max-Ophüls- film Festival, the "Saarspektakel" and the Franco-German "Perspectives" theater event, and much more.
